The 2014 Street Glide received a complete 1000W audio system with a Soundstream radio and Ground Zero kit, designed to play extremely loud and clear. We performed the entire installation in a fully reversible manner, without altering the motorcycle's original wiring.
Hello, welcome to Mefiu Motorcycle Audio. Today we'll show you a build on a 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. This project was done so that it would play really loud, clearly, and at the same time be fully reversible – without altering the motorcycle's factory wiring.
Hertz SP4.900 Amplifier — 1000W of pure power
In this motorcycle, we have installed a 1000W system based on four speakers and an amplifier. Hertz SP4.900. This is a unit that works brilliantly in motorcycle conditions. It has the technology Advanced D-Class (ADC) – this makes it incredibly efficient and it doesn't overheat like older designs. Aluminium housing with certification IP55 protect it from moisture and dirt, and the module USS (Universal Speakers Simulator) allows for flawless co-operation with the factory Harley-Davidson installation. For us, this is a guarantee that there is no need to mess about, cut, or solder anything.
We’ve done the entire front end using original connectors. Zero splice joints, zero cable welding on the original wiring. If it ever needs to be removed – we unplug it and everything goes back to its factory state. Clean and professional.
Radio Soundstream Reserve HDHU14+ — modernity in a factory casing
We also put in the radio Soundstream Reserve HDHU14+, intended for Harley Touring models from 2014 onwards, without any adapters. This is a unit with 7-inch touchscreen, CarPlay and Android Auto support, DSP correction and built-in amplifier 50W/channel (2Ω). So it not only looks better, but also plays much more cleanly than the factory radio.
Steering wheel control on this model includes track changes (left/right), source switching, and volume adjustment all accessible from the stalk. For those who want full control like in GTS models, Soundstream has released a second variant. This receiver can assign all factory functions to the steering wheel buttons. We have both models in stock. The most important difference is: the HDHU14+ is a replacement for the 6.5GT and does not control original amplifiers, whereas the HDHU14SI works with the factory audio without any problems.
New model – WHD14+
Soundstream also introduced WHD14+, This is a refreshed HDHU14+ version, specifically designed for Street Glide, Road Glide, and Electra Glide models from 2014 onwards. Installation uses factory locations, requiring no cable cutting or additional adapters. The WHD14+ retains all multimedia functions: wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB, and a built-in DSP, but offers improved control and wider compatibility with Touring motorcycle systems compared to its predecessor. The radio has been optimised for louder aftermarket systems, handling higher output voltages and working with SPL class amplifiers more effectively.
Thanks to this WHD14+ It is now the most popular successor to the HDHU14+, particularly in motorcycles that already have a complex audio system.
Front – Ground Zero 6.5” speakers”
To the front Ground Zero GZCF 6.5SPL NEO – Speakers designed for motorcycles. They fit into the original mounting points without any modifications. They have magnets Neodymium, and Moisture and UV resistant, and their efficiency allows for very loud playing even in confined installation spaces. These speakers are in the category SPL, - that is, focused on pressure and dynamics – work perfectly where the sound needs to cut through wind noise.
Rear — Hertz SX690 NEO
We chose for the back Hertz SX690 NEO. For 3-way 6x9 speakers, designed specifically for motorcycles: Neodymium magnet, moisture and UV resistant, very high SPL efficiency. Operating range from ~65 Hz to 24 kHz — it provides a strong, punchy bass and clear high frequencies that will cut through wind noise even at higher speeds.
Listening – even FM radio can surprise
After assembly, we showed the entire motorcycle and did a sound test. The radio was connected, we started it up… and it was dreadfully noisy. I'd dug myself into a bit of a hole as I hadn't brought a USB stick with our test audio material. What you heard was played from Antyradio. Despite the source, the amount of bass surprised me. And it's even better with wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. You install the module, your phone is in your pocket or top box, and the system connects automatically. Zero faff.
